One Step at a Time...

When I was a white belt, one of my greatest Tae Kwon Do teachers, Master Moon, taught the most basic front punch. We all threw our arms in the air as fast as possible in a futile attempt to impress him.

Observing the spectacle, he decided to take out a piece of wood and asked everyone, one by one, to break the board with their punch. Shamefully, not one succeeded. In fact, a few walked away with bloody knuckles.

After a long, painful strategic pause,  he yelled “No more power – only technique!”

His instruction was to go as slow as possible, perfecting our torque as our inverted hand twisted toward  an assailants solar plexus. We had to do it a thousand times and again, day after day for weeks.

Then came the day.  We each lined up for our next attempt to break the board, this time reluctant and somewhat ashamed of our last trial. Surprised as I was, my board broke with one punch. And much the same for the rest of the class.

Master Moon started with the most basic technique. Once the class became experts at the punch, we added power, and everyone was able to succeed.

Small steps lead to big goals.

The Vision Board

Vision boards exist to create a place for you to channel all of your goals.  It allows you to take these goals from your brain and convert them into something more tangible and achievable. These goals can range from material to emotional- a big house or a family.  The point here is that each vision board is unique to each person’s own hopes; no two vision boards should be the same. The board you create for yourself is a visualization tool to help you foresee your best life!

First step is to find the proper images to form your vision board. It is important to find images that elicit a physical reaction from you- excitement, happiness, curiosity, etc. These pictures should affect your heart, it is important to think outside of your head in order to gather the right photos to create your vision board. If you are like most people out there, you will gather an overflow of images for your board.  That is why this next step is critical in forming a vision board that truly captures your goals in life. This is the time to leave your brain out of the equation and really focus on the images that your heart tells you are most important.  Get rid of logical thinking that tells you this is right or wrong; go with your gut instinct when deciding on the proper pictures to use. Once you have these pictures it’s time to create your own vision board.

Part of what makes these vision boards so effective is they allow you to focus your brain on the things you want in a way that you can let go of them in the day to day sense.  When you create this board you know there is a place that your goals sit organized and defined, you no longer need to pick apart what you want every day but rather focus your energy on the big picture of being successful.  When you need a reminder of why you are working so hard, just take out that vision board and you will regain that stress free focus that we all strive for.

When you are organized in what you want to achieve, you gain the ability to see opportunities that may have been missed prior because you were scattered in focus or forcing things.  Sometimes the hardest thing when working towards success is to let things occur naturally and organically.  While being successful takes a lot of hard work and time, there is still something to be said for being aware enough to recognize opportunities that aren’t blatant to us and for allowing things to flow forward naturally as you continue to work hard.  The vision board will give you this freedom!

Operation Smile Follow Up

LNE Consulting Inc. held its Charity Kids Fashion Show and Art Auction Saturday August 27, 2011. Studio 18 of Pembroke Pines sponsored the location!

"We raised almost $5000 for Operation Smile that night!" says Julie Edmonds, president of LNE.

More than 200,000 children are born with a severe cleft condition each year — often unable to eat, speak, socialize or smile. In some places these children are shunned and rejected. And in too many cases, their parents can't afford to give them the surgeries they need to live a normal life. Thanks to the generosity and spirit of volunteerism shown by Operations Smile's supporters, Operation Smile heals thousands of children per year and, today, more than 150,000 girls and boys have a new chance at a new life because of Operation Smile's work.

The doors to Studio 18 opened at 6:00 that evening with all the artists work on hand. The evening began with a fashion show of 16 boys and girls aged 3-7, showcasing designer Sandra Meza's new bathing suit line for children. Makeup professional and hair stylist, Michelle Menist was on set catering to all the little models. The evening followed with artist, William Bock on the mic. William owns the Art and Frame Shop in Davie, Fl and displays his work at Studio 18. He did a fantastic job auctioning off some beautiful pieces donated by the artists from Studio 18.

Throughout the evening, attendees had an opportunity to bet on silent auction items from Harley Davidson, Dynamic Tae Kwon Do, Po Seng Tong, Elemis Spa, a blimp ride from Good Year Tire Company, Grow Verde Vespa Rides, and much much more!

It was a highly successful event! LNE exceeded its goal and is so happy to give back to the community. Studio 18 and everyone there were great supporters.

"We couldn't have done it without all the incredible sponsors and all the talented artists at Studio 18 that donated their work!. Special thanks to Adri Trujillo from LNE, Robyn Vegas from Studio 18, artist William Bock, fashion designer Sandra Meza, make up artist Michelle Menist, Jennifer Salter and all of the team leaders at LNE!" says Julie

Studio 18 Artists that donated their work: Beth Amato, Henrietta Arnold, William Bock, Michael Harris, Debra Kaszovitz, Dawn Verheylewegen, Maria Wieder, and Eric Baquero. Special art donation by Riccardo Boccanegra and Hillary Burton

Turn That Frown Upside Down AKA Operation Smile

LNE Consulting is hosting a fundraiser at Studio 18 in Pembroke Pines, FL to help raise money for Operation Smile on the evening of Saturday, August 27, 2011 from 6-8pm. Events for the night will include a fashion show as well as an art auction showcasing Studio 18’s artists and their work. The night will feature fashion designer Sandra Meza, who will be presenting her new children’s clothing line. The objective of the event is to help raise awareness and donations for the Operation Smile foundation.

LNE Consulting is encouraging you to come and enjoy an evening of art, fashion, raffles and more to help change the lives of children affected by the cleft lip condition.

About Operation Smile:

Operation Smile helps change children’s lives by providing surgeries to fix cleft lips, cleft palates or other facial deformities and create a smile. These children are often unable to eat, speak, socialize or smile. In some places these children are shunned and rejected.

Since 1982, Operation Smile – through the help of dedicated medical volunteers – has provided free surgeries to 150,000 children who have been born with the cleft lip condition. Thanks to the generosity and spirit of volunteerism shown by supporters, thousands of boys and girls in over 50 countries are able to speak one universal language, a smile.

LNE Consulting wants to continue the contagious smile campaign for children around the world and welcomes you to join an evening of fashion, fun, art and more to make sure no one leaves with a frown. With your help, how many lives can we change tomorrow?

“If someone is too tired to give you a smile, leave one of your own, because no one needs a smile as much as those who have none to give.” Anonymous

Tickets will be sold in advance or at the door for $20 per person. All of the proceeds will go towards Operation Smile. If you would like to purchase a ticket in advance please email or call me at your convenience or you can buy them the night of the event.
