Travel Helps to Gain Skills in Business

LNE Consulting was recently in Nashville, TN for the weekend.  The team is continuously traveling to learn, network, and continue to grow the firm.

Over the years, LNE Consulting and the staff has traveled all over the U.S. and around the globe.  We have found that travel helps in the path to success in business.  There are a few things that travel can help accomplish.

1.  Travel helps the mind get creative.  Not only do several things go wrong when traveling that cause you to get creative, but these skills can be translated into the business world.  Travel plans change, flights get delayed and rescheduled, and one must always be resourceful to find new ways to get to their location and plan accordingly to be sure to be on time.  This is important in business, because things are constantly changing and need good decision making skills.

2.  Travel helps to build a diverse culture.  Running a company, of any size, allows you to interact with many different types of people and cultures.  Everyone learns differently, accepts feedback differently, and work better in different environments.  Exposure to the diverse cultures gives a company an edge.  Emulating people that you meet from other cultures can help your business grow and flourish.

3.  Travel aids in your technology skills.  Traveling allows you to stay connected when networking with others, which is very useful in business.  While one must sometimes learn to disconnect, staying connected while traveling is usually necessary.

Recently being at our annual Conference, the team at LNE Consulting was able to network, receive awards, and learn new strategies to implement.  We are excited to implement these in the office and have another productive week at the office.  Our team has consistently been ranking number one for our client for the past two months and the new learnings will help catapult us to the next level.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone in Mexico in September.  Stay tuned for pictures and details come come.

One Step at a Time...

When I was a white belt, one of my greatest Tae Kwon Do teachers, Master Moon, taught the most basic front punch. We all threw our arms in the air as fast as possible in a futile attempt to impress him.

Observing the spectacle, he decided to take out a piece of wood and asked everyone, one by one, to break the board with their punch. Shamefully, not one succeeded. In fact, a few walked away with bloody knuckles.

After a long, painful strategic pause,  he yelled “No more power – only technique!”

His instruction was to go as slow as possible, perfecting our torque as our inverted hand twisted toward  an assailants solar plexus. We had to do it a thousand times and again, day after day for weeks.

Then came the day.  We each lined up for our next attempt to break the board, this time reluctant and somewhat ashamed of our last trial. Surprised as I was, my board broke with one punch. And much the same for the rest of the class.

Master Moon started with the most basic technique. Once the class became experts at the punch, we added power, and everyone was able to succeed.

Small steps lead to big goals.

The Vision Board

Vision boards exist to create a place for you to channel all of your goals.  It allows you to take these goals from your brain and convert them into something more tangible and achievable. These goals can range from material to emotional- a big house or a family.  The point here is that each vision board is unique to each person’s own hopes; no two vision boards should be the same. The board you create for yourself is a visualization tool to help you foresee your best life!

First step is to find the proper images to form your vision board. It is important to find images that elicit a physical reaction from you- excitement, happiness, curiosity, etc. These pictures should affect your heart, it is important to think outside of your head in order to gather the right photos to create your vision board. If you are like most people out there, you will gather an overflow of images for your board.  That is why this next step is critical in forming a vision board that truly captures your goals in life. This is the time to leave your brain out of the equation and really focus on the images that your heart tells you are most important.  Get rid of logical thinking that tells you this is right or wrong; go with your gut instinct when deciding on the proper pictures to use. Once you have these pictures it’s time to create your own vision board.

Part of what makes these vision boards so effective is they allow you to focus your brain on the things you want in a way that you can let go of them in the day to day sense.  When you create this board you know there is a place that your goals sit organized and defined, you no longer need to pick apart what you want every day but rather focus your energy on the big picture of being successful.  When you need a reminder of why you are working so hard, just take out that vision board and you will regain that stress free focus that we all strive for.

When you are organized in what you want to achieve, you gain the ability to see opportunities that may have been missed prior because you were scattered in focus or forcing things.  Sometimes the hardest thing when working towards success is to let things occur naturally and organically.  While being successful takes a lot of hard work and time, there is still something to be said for being aware enough to recognize opportunities that aren’t blatant to us and for allowing things to flow forward naturally as you continue to work hard.  The vision board will give you this freedom!
